Wahidullah Amani, the spokesperson for the World Food Program in Afghanistan, highlighted that the organization's efforts encompassed the distribution of 35,000 metric tons of food and a monetary contribution of $9 million to Afghan citizens during the month of July.

"In July, the WFP successfully provided vital food assistance to over 5.6 million individuals across Afghanistan, with 3.8 million of these recipients benefiting from emergency humanitarian aid," emphasized Wahidullah Amani.

As discussions surrounding aid distribution intensify, economic experts have put forth recommendations aimed at ensuring transparency. They propose the establishment of a supervisory committee to oversee the aid allocation process, stressing that the upcoming winter will heighten the need for assistance within Afghanistan.

Economist Seyar Qurishi articulated the necessity for a shift in aid strategy, stating, "To address the deep-seated poverty in Afghanistan, it's imperative to reevaluate the approach to aid distribution. The focus should be on utilizing aid in ways that generate employment opportunities for vulnerable households across the nation."

The Ministry of Economy has expressed appreciation for the support extended by aid organizations within Afghanistan. However, it has underscored the importance of an infrastructure-driven approach for sustainable economic advancement.

"While we wholeheartedly welcome the international community's assistance, its impact can be maximized through strategic investments in infrastructure. Simultaneously, aid efforts should adopt a developmental perspective that plays a pivotal role in fostering employment opportunities and mitigating poverty," commented the Ministry of Economy.

In a recent report, the International Organization for Migration shed light on the dire circumstances faced by Afghan citizens. The report revealed that a staggering seventy percent of the population currently resides below the poverty threshold.

As Afghanistan navigates these critical times, attention is not only drawn to immediate aid provision but also to the imperative of addressing underlying structural challenges to pave the way for lasting socioeconomic progress. (ILKHA)
