In an interview published on August 8th with Latin American media outlets, Zelensky acknowledged the complexity of the counteroffensive, which is progressing at a pace that might not meet all expectations.

However, he emphasized that the counteroffensive indicates the Ukrainian army's unwavering advancement and lack of retreat. He deemed this consistent progress as a notable positive aspect of the situation, highlighting that the initiative remains firmly within Ukraine's grasp.

The counteroffensive orchestrated by Ukrainian forces has been operational in multiple directions across the southwest and east of the country since early July. During the initial phase, Ukrainian troops successfully recaptured various settlements. Subsequently, late July saw the deployment of additional Western-trained personnel and advanced equipment to the front lines, reinforcing the nation's combat capabilities.

Zelensky said that he is confident that Ukraine will eventually prevail in the war, but he warned that it will be a long and difficult fight. He called on the international community to continue providing Ukraine with military and financial assistance, and he urged Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukrainian territory. (ILKHA)
