Magnitude 3.3 earthquake hits Sea of Marmara off Istanbul coast

On Sunday, the Disaster Management Authority (AFAD) issued a report about a magnitude 3.3 earthquake that struck the Sea of Marmara, just off the coast of Istanbul.

According to seismologists, the earthquake's focal point was recorded at precisely 18:29 TSI, and it occurred at a depth of 7.7 kilometers.

The epicenter of the quake was pinpointed in the sea between the city of Yalova and the Tuzla region, situated on the outskirts of Istanbul.

Interestingly, seismologists at the Kandilli Observatory have provided slightly different estimates for the earthquake's magnitude and depth. They assessed the earthquake to be of magnitude 3.6, with a depth of 14 kilometers.

As of now, there have been no reports of significant damage or casualties resulting from the earthquake.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and conducting further assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in the affected areas. (ILKHA)
