Musk plans to change Twitter logo to an "X" as competition with Meta's Threads heats up

Elon Musk announced on Sunday his intention to revamp the logo of Twitter, replacing the iconic blue bird with an "X," in what could be a significant alteration since his acquisition of the social media giant for $44 billion last year.

In a series of tweets posted on his Twitter account shortly after 12 a.m. ET, the owner of Twitter revealed his plan to implement the logo change on a global scale, aiming for it to take effect as early as Monday.

"And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds," Musk stated on his account, hinting at the possibility of further transformations.

The decision to replace the familiar bird logo with an "X" comes amidst the backdrop of new competition faced by Twitter, particularly with the recent launch of Meta's app, Threads. Since its debut earlier this month, Threads has been perceived as an alternative platform catering to users dissatisfied with Twitter.

As Musk pushes forward with his vision for Twitter, the digital landscape awaits further developments and potential shifts in the dynamics of social media platforms. (ILKHA)
