The director of Palestine Center for Prisoners' Studies, Riyad Al-Ashqar, said that 570 Palestinian minors were arrested in the first half of the current year, a 15 percent increase over the same year the previous year.

Al-Ashqar underlined that 29 children among the detained minors are under 12 years old, including Rayyan Abu Rayyan, 10, and Omar an-Natshah, 10.

He added that Ofer court imposed on Palestinian children a total amount of fines reaching 175,000 shekels in the first half of the current year.

“Dozens of children were held in home confinement following their release in the first half of 2023,” al-Ashqar pointed out, adding that israeli courts issued 23 administrative detention orders against Palestinian children in the same period.

160 Palestinian children are currently held in Megiddo, Ofer, and Damon prisons under harsh circumstances as they don’t get their basic human needs. (ILKHA)
