The incident occurred on Thursday while a group of children was playing cricket on a ground situated at the base of a hill.

Following an extensive operation that lasted until late Thursday night, Rescue 1122, local volunteers, and Pakistan Army rescue teams managed to recover the bodies of eight children and rescue one injured child from the rubble.

Local residents have confirmed that there are no more missing children trapped under the debris.

The rescue teams attributed the cause of the landslide to heavy rainfall in the area since Wednesday.

The Pakistani government has expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and has promised to provide financial assistance to the families.

The government has also ordered an investigation into the cause of the landslide and has warned residents of the area to be vigilant in the wake of the heavy rainfall. (ILKHA)
