The incident occurred in the Rocamontes District of Concepcion de Oro, Zacatecas, around 6:30 a.m. local time (1230 GMT).
According to local media, the bus was transporting Mexican citizens, who were residents in the United States, to their hometowns in Zacatecas and Aguascalientes for summer vacation.
Preliminary reports suggest that the accident may have been caused by excessive speed on a slippery road surface following rainfall, resulting in the loss of control by the bus driver.
