A special ceremony will be held to commemorate this event, the Ministry said in a statement.

A representative from Lockheed Martin, the manufacturing company, will officially hand over the aircraft to the Danish Air Force during the ceremony.

The F-35s will serve multiple functions and are intended to replace the currently deployed F-16s.

Out of the total 27 aircraft, 21 will be stationed at the Skrydstrup airfield, while the remaining 6 will be permanently based in the United States to facilitate the training of Danish pilots.

The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is an American family of single-seat, single-engine, all-weather stealth multirole combat aircraft designed for air superiority and strike missions.

It is capable of providing electronic warfare, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities. (ILKHA)
