The incident, involving a collision of 26 vehicles, occurred on Friday, as reported by local sources.

The calamity unfolded around 10:50 a.m. local time in the province of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province on Yasouj-Shiraz Road, sending shockwaves through the region.

Authorities swiftly took action, apprehending the driver of the truck responsible for the collision. Currently, the driver remains in custody and is undergoing investigation to shed light on the circumstances leading to the devastating incident.

Preliminary statements provided by the driver to law enforcement indicate that a brake malfunction caused him to lose control of the vehicle, resulting in the truck plowing into surrounding cars and unsuspecting pedestrians.

The injured victims have been promptly transported to the renowned Yasouj University Hospital, where medical professionals are working tirelessly to provide essential care.
