The operation, involving multiple security agencies, culminated in the safe liberation of the victims.

Chief Adeleye, speaking from the state capital of Akure, disclosed that the combined efforts of Amotekun personnel, the Nigeria Police, and the 32 Artillery Brigade were instrumental in the successful rescue mission.

The incident unfolded when a passenger bus, bearing license plate number EKP263 LG and carrying 18 passengers from Kogi State to Ondo State, was ambushed by suspected kidnappers near Eti-Osa, in close proximity to Isua.

Upon receiving a distress call, the tactical team from Amotekun's headquarters and the local government coordinator in Isua swiftly mobilized, initiating a rapid manhunt for the victims. The security operatives pursued the abductors, resulting in the immediate rescue of two female victims who had been left behind during the chase. Moments later, the conductor of the bus was also successfully rescued.

Following these initial breakthroughs, a subsequent overnight operation was conducted in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, the Police, and local hunters. The joint efforts of these forces led to the successful rescue of the remaining abducted individuals, who were located in a dense forest area situated between the boundaries of Kogi and Ondo states. The operation reached its climax at approximately 6 am the following morning.

The commendable dedication and coordinated actions of Amotekun, the Nigeria Police, and the 32 Artillery Brigade played a pivotal role in the triumphant rescue operation.

All 18 individuals who were freed from captivity have since undergone profiling and have been joyfully reunited with their families, marking an end to their harrowing ordeal.

The successful operation serves as a testament to the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between security agencies in combatting criminal activities and ensuring the safety of citizens.

The authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region, promising continued efforts to curb criminal elements and protect the well-being of the public. (ILKHA)
