President Erdoğan unveils new Turkish presidential cabinet

The unveiling comes following his recent inauguration as the leader of the Turkish Republic.

Prominent appointments include Mehmet Şimşek as the Treasury and Finance Minister, Hakan Fidan as the Foreign Minister, Alparslan Bayraktar as the Energy Minister, Yaşar Güler as the Defense Minister, and Cevdet Yılmaz as the Vice President.

President Erdoğan secured victory in the presidential runoff election held on May 28, garnering 52.18% of the vote. His closest opponent, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, received 47.82% of the vote, according to official results.

Furthermore, Erdoğan's Justice and Development (AK) Party emerged as the top party in parliament on May 13, securing 268 seats. The AK Party, in alliance with the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and the New Welfare Party (YRP), achieved a combined majority of 323 seats out of the total 600 in parliament.

The main opposition Nation's Alliance, comprising the Republican People's Party (CHP) and the Good Party (IYI), secured a total of 212 seats in parliament, with 169 deputies belonging to the CHP. The remaining 65 seats were won by the Labor and Freedom Alliance, consisting of the Green Left Party (61 seats) and the Türkiye Labor Party (TIP) (4 seats). (ILKHA)
