The Hope Caravan Foundation has announced its upcoming initiative to perform Sacrifice by Proxy in numerous countries, where animals will be slaughtered, and their meat will be distributed to individuals in need.
As preparations for Eid al-Adha are underway, the foundation has set a goal to provide meat to millions of people in earthquake-affected regions in Türkiye, as well as several impoverished countries including Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Palestine, and various nations in Africa.
In an interview with the Ilke News Agency, Cengiz Kurtaran, the head of the Hope Caravan Foundation, expressed the foundation's excitement and adherence to the divine commandment found in Surah Al-Kawthar, which states, "So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him] alone." Guided by this belief, the foundation has initiated comprehensive preparations both domestically and internationally under the motto "Let Your Sacrifice Be Hope."
Given the devastating earthquake referred to as the disaster of the century, Kurtaran emphasized the foundation's relief efforts. They have completed all necessary preparations for the slaughter of sacrificial animals in 11 provinces severely affected by the earthquake, notably Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, and Malatya.
Apart from the earthquake-stricken region, the foundation will also slaughter sacrificial animals donated by philanthropists in various countries abroad. These animals will be handled by professional butchers in hygienic environments through proxy representation, ensuring the integrity and safety of the process.
Cengiz Kurtaran, the head of Hope Caravan Foundation
Kurtaran shared the heart-wrenching stories of families in Afghanistan who have been unable to afford meat for their households for the past four years. He appealed to philanthropists, both domestically and internationally, to support the foundation's efforts and meet the expectations of those in need.
The situation in Afghanistan is particularly dire, with families enduring a four-year meat scarcity. Last year, the foundation slaughtered sacrificial animals in 24 regions of Afghanistan and delivered the meat to those in need. Similarly, Yemen continues to suffer from hunger and war, prompting the foundation to extend their efforts to provide assistance. Additionally, numerous African countries are plagued by hunger, calling for a helping hand from the international community. The foundation has nearly completed the procurement of sacrificial animals in Africa with the aid of expert teams and veterinarians. They have identified individuals who will personally travel to these regions to slaughter the sacrificial animals donated by generous individuals. The meat will then be distributed to those in need, madrasas, and orphanages.
To facilitate philanthropic contributions, Kurtaran outlined the process through which philanthropists can donate funds for sacrificial animals. Payments can be made through the foundation's official bank accounts. The price for a small ruminant sacrificial animal is set at 4,250 Turkish liras domestically. For Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Rohingya camps, the price is 2,500 Turkish lira, while for Yemen, it is 2,600 Turkish lira. The foundation also plans to perform Sacrifice by Proxy in Gaza, with the price set at 6,500 Turkish lira for a sacrificial animal. Donors can visit the foundation's official bank accounts, website, the headquarters of the Hope Caravan Foundation, or its affiliated branches to make their contributions and receive receipts in return. The foundation will ensure that all donated sacrificial animals are slaughtered by proxy, and the meat is distributed to the poor and those in need.
The Hope Caravan Foundation aims to unite the Islamic Ummah in joyous celebration during the upcoming holiday, as they strive to bring relief and hope to millions of individuals affected by disasters and adversity.
