During a press conference, Bahadori Jahromi mentioned that following the remarks made by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution regarding the development of relations with Cairo, Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi has instructed the foreign ministry to take the necessary steps.
During a meeting with Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said in Tehran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei acknowledged Sultan Haitham's comments about Egypt's willingness to restore relations with the Islamic Republic. Khamenei expressed a positive response, stating, "We welcome this position and have no problem in this regard."
Earlier in May, Fadahossein Maleki, a member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, revealed that Iran and Egypt are making progress towards reestablishing diplomatic relations and reopening their respective embassies.
In January, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that Iran's foreign minister and Egypt's president had engaged in constructive discussions on the sidelines of a regional summit focused on Iraq, held in Jordan in December 2022.
The talks exhibited a positive spirit, with both sides displaying a willingness to engage in negotiations, the spokesperson added. (ILKHA)
