Erdogan congratulates Azerbaijan on Independence Day

“With the motto ‘One Nation, Two States’, I celebrate the Independence Day of our brother Azerbaijan, with whom we have always stood side by side, shoulder to shoulder. I respectfully and with condolences remember our heroes who sacrificed their lives for independence.,” Erdoğan wrote on Twitter.

Azerbaijan declared independence from Russian Empire in Tiflis on 28 May 1918. The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was founded by the Azerbaijani National Council in Tiflis on 28 May 1918 after the collapse of the Russian Empire that began with the Russian Revolution of 1917. (ILKHA)
