Oğan's endorsement, coming from a prominent right-wing figure, could significantly influence the final outcome, particularly among nationalist voters who previously aligned with his platform.
“We placed Turkish nationalism and Kemalism at the forefront of the national agenda, effectively overshadowing the key role previously held by the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in the presidential elections. As Turkish nationalists, we played a significant part in shaping a strong and nationalist voting base in Turkey. Our efforts led to the emergence of candidates in the second round who embraced our discourse,” said Sinan Oğan during a press conference in the capital Ankara.
Erdoğan, who has been in power since 2002, is seeking re-election for another term. The competition has been fierce between Erdoğan and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu of the Nation Alliance, with Erdoğan securing the top position in the initial round of voting.
Oğan's public endorsement provides a crucial boost to Erdoğan's campaign, increasing his chances of success in the final round. (ILKHA)
