The election will be conducted using a proportional system with a 3% entry barrier, which was implemented by the previous Syriza government in 2016.

However, it was not utilized in 2019 due to the lack of a required super-majority for its approval in parliament.

Under this system, parties that fail to reach the 3% threshold will have their votes proportionally distributed among those that surpass it.

Due to the new proportional system, it is anticipated that a clear outcome may be challenging to achieve.

According to recent polls, the incumbent centre-right New Democracy (ND) party is leading with approximately 36% of the votes, followed by the left-wing Syriza with 29%.

The centrist PASOK holds third place with 10% of the votes, but there is a considerable margin between them and the top two parties.

The communist party (KKE), nationalist Greek Solution (EL), and left-wing Mera25 are also expected to secure parliamentary representation. (ILKHA)
