Devastated villagers are now trying to rebuild their homes while awaiting aid and support.

The cyclone, named Mocha, made landfall on Sunday with winds reaching speeds of up to 195 kilometers (120 miles) per hour, causing power pylons to collapse and wooden fishing boats to be shattered.

The villages of Bu Ma and nearby Khaung Doke Kar, predominantly inhabited by the persecuted Rohingya Muslim minority, witnessed the loss of at least 41 lives, according to local sources.

Mocha marked the most severe cyclone to hit the region in more than ten years, causing widespread destruction to villages, uprooting trees, and disrupting communication networks throughout Rakhine state. (ILKHA)
