Türkiye’s unemployment rate remains steady at 10% in March

The number of unemployed persons aged 15 years old and over increased by 4 thousand to 3 million 508 thousand persons in March 2023 compared to the previous month, Turkish Statistical Institute said.

Seasonally adjusted employment rate realized as 48.2%

The number of employed persons increased by 37 thousand to 31 million 462 thousand persons in March 2023 compared to the previous month. The employment rate occurred as 48.2% without any change. In addition, this rate was 66.0% for men, 30.7% for women.

Seasonally adjusted labor force participation rate realized as 53.6%

The number of persons in the labor force realized as 34 million 970 thousand persons with 41 thousand persons increase in March 2023 compared to the previous month. Labor force participation rate was 53.6% without any change. Also this rate was 71.9% for men, it was 35.7% for women.

Seasonally adjusted youth unemployment rate was 20.1%

The youth unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group was 20.1% with 0.7 percentage point increase compared to the previous month. While this rate was estimated 15.2% for men and 28.9% for women.

Seasonally and calendar adjusted average weekly actual working hours was 44.5

Seasonally and calendar adjusted average weekly actual working hours of persons at work during the reference period estimated 44.5 hours with 0.2 hours decrease compared to the previous month in March 2023.

Seasonally adjusted composite measure of labor underutilization rate realized as 21.8%

In March 2023, the rate of composite measure of labor underutilization consisting of time-related underemployment, potential labor force and unemployment was 21.8% with 1.6 percentage point decrease compared to the previous month. While combined rate of time-related underemployment and unemployment realized as 15.1%, combined rate of unemployment and potential labor force estimated as 17.2%. (ILKHA)
