At least 22 people killed in India bus crash

A tragic incident occurred in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, India, where a bus carrying over 50 passengers veered off a bridge and plunged into a dry river bed on Tuesday.

As a result, at least 22 people lost their lives, and 31 others sustained injuries.

The incident took place around 8:40 a.m. when the bus, traveling from Shrikhandi village in Khargone to Indore, collided with the protective railing, causing it to break and ultimately leading to the bus falling onto the bed of Borad river near Dongargaon village.

Authorities were promptly informed, and the injured individuals were transported to the district hospital in Khargone, where many survivors continue to receive treatment.

Initially, the State Home Minister, Nariottam Mishra, reported 15 fatalities. However, Khargone collector Shivraj Singh Verma later confirmed that the death toll had risen to 22, with 31 individuals sustaining injuries.

It has been revealed that both the driver and cleaner of the bus tragically lost their lives in the accident.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with a focus on factors such as potential overloading. The bus involved in the accident belongs to a private travel company. (ILKHA)
