Erdogan discusses Sudan developments in phone call with Sudanese army chief

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan held a phone conversation to discuss the situation in war-torn Sudan, as well as the evacuation and safety of Turkish citizens.

President Erdoğan expressed his willingness for Türkiye to host talks if all relevant parties agree, according to a statement by Turkish presidency.

During their phone call, Erdoğan expressed his deep concern to President Burhan of the Sovereignty Council about the rising number of casualties and injuries resulting from the ongoing conflict among Sudanese factions.

According to a statement from the Turkish Communications Directorate, Erdoğan assured that Türkiye will continue its efforts, in coordination with the United Nations, to address the urgent humanitarian needs of the Sudanese people.

President Erdoğan also conveyed his sorrow and distress over the escalating casualties in the internal strife occurring in Sudan. (ILKHA)
