The Tunisian coast guard has reported that at least 15 irregular migrants are missing after their boat sank approximately 20 miles from the coast of Ataya on the island of Kerkennah in Sfax.

The boat, which was carrying 19 individuals, only four of whom were rescued, was on its way to Europe.

The incident highlights the ongoing migrant crisis in the Mediterranean, where people continue to risk their lives to seek better living conditions.

Governments and international organizations are working to address the underlying causes of migration and improve conditions in migrants' countries of origin, but more work is needed to prevent further loss of life.

It is crucial to provide safe and legal migration options and address the root causes of migration, such as poverty, conflict, and persecution. (ILKHA)
