On Sunday, the military launched air strikes on a base belonging to the government's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) near the capital city in an attempt to regain control of the country.

The RSF, which has an estimated 100,000 members, and the military have been vying for power as political factions work towards forming a transitional government after a military coup in 2021.

The sound of heavy artillery and gunfire was heard in several cities, including Khartoum, Omdurman, Bahri, and Port Sudan, local sources reported. (ILKHA)
