After three-year hiatus due to COVID pandemic, the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation announced that it will hold a Mawlid al-Nabi event with the participation of millions on April 30 at Newruz Park in Bağlar district.
Menaf Adıyaman, a member of the Mawlid al-Nabi Organizing Committee of the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation, said that they will hold the event this year with the theme of "The Most Beautiful Example of Prophet Muhammad".
“We will once again be in the squares to commemorate, understand and speak on the exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the greatest example and only leader for Muslims,” Adıyaman said.
Adıyaman also called on all Muslims to participate in the Mawlid al-Nabi event to mark the holy birth of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).
What is Mawlid an-Nabi?
Mawlid an-Nabi is the observance of the birthday of the Islamic prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Mawlid is celebrated in almost all Islamic countries, and in other countries that have a significant Muslim population, such as Ethiopia, India, the United Kingdom, Türkiye, Nigeria, cote dlvore, Sri Lanka, France, Germany, Italy, Iraq, Iran, Maldives, Morocco, Jordan, Libya, Russia, and Canada.
In Türkiye, Mawlid is widely celebrated. It is referred to as Mevlid Kandili in Turkish, which means "the candle feast for the Prophet's birthday". Traditional poems regarding Muhammad's life are recited both in public mosques and at home in the evening. (ILKHA)
