A magnitude 6.8 earthquake hit northeast Afghanistan, with tremors felt in cities in India and Pakistan.

The earthquake, 40 kilometers southeast of the town of Jurm, was 187.6 km deep, Pakistan’s Meteorological Department reported.

The tremor has been felt in parts of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, sending panicked residents into the streets, according to local reports.

There are no reports of damage or casualties yet.

“The country was hit by a relatively severe earthquake, which may have caused possible damage in some areas, especially in the northern provinces. Therefore, the Ministry of Interior has given a special directive to all relevant officials to help the affected people with their available resources in the affected areas,” Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on Twitter.
