Cyclone Yaku severely impacted Tumbes, Piura, and Lambayeque departments, generating floods, river overflowing, and landslides.
Overflowing rivers left at least 65 dead people and severe damage to 2,077 homes, 13 educational centers, 35 health establishments, 2,700 means of transportation, and 4,730 irrigation canals, authorities said.
The cyclone has been described by the Peruvian National Meteorological and Hydrological Service (SENAMHI) as an "unorganized tropical cyclone" not seen since 1983 or 1998. (ILKHA)
