UAE sends 217 relief planes to Türkiye, Syria since earthquakes

The United Arab Emirates has sent 217 planes loaded with medical and food supplies so far to Türkiye and Syria to help those affected by February 6 earthquakes.

“Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in Al Dhafra Region and chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, an Emirati aid ship carrying one thousand tons of 37,500 food parcels, which was commissioned by the Red Crescent Authority as part of operation Knight of honor, arrived in Latakia port today as part of the authority's efforts to promote the recovery phase for the benefit of the brotherly Syrian people,” UAE Defense Ministry wrote on Twitter.

The UAE has so far delivered 7,027 tons of aid materials to Türkiye and Syria through 217 cargo planes after the February 6 twin earthquakes centered in the southern Turkish province of Kahramanmaras. (ILKHA)
