At least 22 people die when boat capsizes off Madagascar

“At least 22 people died off the coast of Madagascar when their boat sank on its way to the French island of Mayotte,” Madagascar’s Maritime and River Port Agency said in a statement.

The boat was carrying 47 people when it capsized off Ankazomborona, a town in northwestern Madagascar on Saturday, according to the statement.

Twenty-five passengers were rescued, and two others are still missing, the statement noted. (ILKHA)
