“Everything shows that the drama was, sadly, mainly due to a tragic human error. It was a terrible train accident without precedent. The incident will be fully investigated,” Mitsotakis said in a televised address.
On Tuesday, at least 43 people were killed when a passenger train carrying more than 350 people collided with a freight train on Tuesday, shortly before midnight, in Tempi, near the city of Larissa.
Transport Minister Kostas Achilleas Karamanlis resigned following the train crash.
The railway stationmaster was arrested for manslaughter but he made a statement that the wreck was not his fault but the result of equipment malfunction. (ILKHA)
