The teams have immediately been dispatched to the affected areas in coordination with AFAD, Türkiye’s disaster management authority.

On Monday, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey along the Syrian border early Monday, killing more than 5,000 people and injuring thousands of others.

The World Health Organization warned that those numbers are likely to increase as much as eight times, as rescue teams find more victims in the rubble. (ILKHA)
