According to those plans, about 1,200 housing units and other structures for commercial and public purposes will be built for settlers on annexed Palestinian lands in the neighborhoods of al-Thuri, Jabel al-Mukaber and Sur Baher, as well as in the settlements of Kiryat HaYovel, Arnona and Katamonim.
There are about 700,000 settlers, 145 major settlements and 140 settler outposts in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, a recent report released by Peace Now says.
In a related context, Hamas spokesman Mohamed Hamadah described the frantic İsraeli demolition campaign against Palestinian homes and property in east Jerusalem and the acceleration of plans to build more settlement projects for settlers in the holy city as a crime and an attempt to impose a new fait accompli on the ground.
He affirmed that such Judaization projects would never confer legitimacy upon the occupation state in Occupied Jerusalem, adding that the Palestinian people would continue to resist the zionist colonial plans and would not fail to liberate their land from the occupation. (ILKHA)
