Two rockets landed on the outskirts of Bashiqa base in Nineveh province, Kurdistan’s counter-terrorism directorate (CTD) said.

There were no immediate reports regarding the extent of the damage or casualties caused by the attack.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

Bashiqa is a town situated at the heart of the Nineveh plain, between Mosul city and the Sheikhan district on the edges of Mount Maqlub.

In 2015, Turkey established the base to train Kurdish Peshmerga forces in preparations for the battle to liberate Mosul from ISIS. (ILKHA)
