UN aid chief Griffiths to visit Afghanistan

“We do not believe that it is possible to deliver a comprehensive humanitarian action about the participation of women and that's why it's the statement was issued. That's why we are actively working with interlocutors on the ground to find a solution to this current situation and that we are engaging,” the UN Resident Coordinator in Afghanistan, Ramiz Alakbarov, told reporters.

“The UN emergency and relief coordinator will conduct a visit to Afghanistan will be several our visits which we are planning to make at the senior level in order to prevail upon the interlocutors to resolve this situation. And this will be taking place in the course of the few coming weeks,” Alakbarov said.

“I believe from my interaction with the Taliban, the best way of coming to the solution is not a pressure. It is a dialogue. This movement has not responded well to the pressure in the past,” he added. (ILKHA)
