The floods began on Saturday as intense rain poured down on the southern parts of the Philippines.

“Twenty-five people were killed, twenty-six others were missing, and at least nine were injured as of December 28,” the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in a statement that the widespread rains were triggered by the shear line collision located within the regions of Visayas and Mindanao.

The shear line is still expected to persist towards the Eastern Visayas and CARAGA regions in the central and northern parts of the country. (ILKHA)
