The Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs affirmed that Abu Hamid died after entering a deep coma in Assaf Harofeh Hospital.

Earlier Monday, zionist authorities transferred Abu Hamid from Ramle prison to Assaf Harofeh Hospital after a very serious deterioration in his health situation.

Since August 2021, Abu Hamid’s health has been severely deteriorating. He was later diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his lungs, and his health condition was further exacerbated due to the Israeli policy of medical neglect.

49-year-old Nasser Abu Hamid from the Al-Amari camp refugee camp, who has been detained since 2002, was serving seven life imprisonment sentences plus 50 years.

Head of the Commission Major General Qadri Abu Bakr held Israel responsible for Abu Hamid's martyrdom, calling on the international community to stop Israeli crimes against Palestinian prisoners.

For its part, the Ministry of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners in the Gaza Strip mourned Abu Hamid, saying that the international community and its human rights and humanitarian institutions are also responsible for the Israeli violations against Palestinian prisoners.

The time has come to stop the israeli crimes against Palestinian sick prisoners, and to hold Israeli leaders accountable, the ministry added. (ILKHA)
