According to the estimation of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by provinces; İstanbul reached the highest GDP with 2 trillion 202 billion 156 million TRY for the year 2021 and gained 30.4% of total GDP.
İstanbul was followed by Ankara with 667 billion 142 million TRY and 9.2% share and İzmir with 462 billion 152 million TRY and 6.4% share.
In the estimation of GDP by provinces, the last three provinces were Tunceli, Ardahan and Bayburt with 6 billion 99 million TRY, 4 billion 968 million TRY and 3 billion 861 million TRY, respectively.
The first five provinces with the highest share of GDP accounted for 54.4% of total GDP of Türkiye.
The highest GDP per capita was estimated for Kocaeli with 153 479 TRY in 2021
Kocaeli reached the highest GDP per capita with 153 thousand 479 TRY in 2021. Kocaeli was followed by İstanbul with 140 thousand 698 TRY and Tekirdağ with 132 thousand 803 TRY.
In the estimation of GDP per capita, the last three provinces were Van, Şanlıurfa and Ağrı with 27 thousand 790 TRY, 27 thousand 48 TRY and 26 thousand 837 TRY, respectively.
In 2021, GDP per capita for thirteen provinces were over the average of that of Türkiye.
İstanbul had the highest share in all economic activities except "agriculture, forestry and fishing" and "other service activities"
When the activities which constitute GDP were examined; İstanbul, having the highest share of GDP at current prices in 2021, also reached the highest share in all economic activities except agriculture and other service activities.
The share of İstanbul in information and communication activities was 65.6%, finance and insurance activities was 60.6%, professional, administrative and support service activities was 45.7%, services sector was 41.9% and construction sector was 32.2%.
Konya was the first among 81 provinces with a share of 6.0% in agriculture, forestry and fishing and Ankara with a share of 42.3% in other service activities.
The services sector had the highest share in total GDP of İstanbul with 33.7%
While İstanbul had a share of 41.9% in the total of the services sector in 2021, the share of the services sector in the total GDP of the province was 33.7%.
The industry sector was the second with a share of 18.8%, professional, administrative and support service activities was the third with a share of 7.2% in the total GDP of İstanbul.
GDP with chain linked volume index for 17 provinces were over the average of Türkiye in 2021
Annual GDP with chain linked volume index increased by 11.4% in 2021 compared to the previous year, GDP percentage change of 17 provinces were increased over the average of Türkiye.
The first three provinces with the highest increase in 2021 compared to the previous year were Antalya with 26.5% percentage change, Tekirdağ with 20.0% and Yalova with 19.6%, respectively.
The three provinces with the highest decrease compared to the previous year were Sinop with 2.7% percentage change, Gümüşhane with 4.8% and Ardahan with 5.4%, respectively.
İstanbul had the largest contribution with 3.96% to the GDP percentage change of Türkiye (11.4%) in 2021
İstanbul had the largest contribution with 3.96% to the 11.4% increase in annual GDP compared to the previous year by chain linked volume index.
İstanbul was followed by Ankara with 0.95% and İzmir with 0.85%.
The provinces with the largest negative contribution to the annual GDP percentage change in 2021 were Ordu with 0.007%, Rize with 0.008%, and Çanakkale 0.009%. (ILKHA)
