The State Department announced that it had approved sales worth more than USD 425 million of spare aircraft parts to support Taiwan's fleet of F-16 fighters, C-130 transport planes and other US-supplied weapons systems.

As stipulated by the Taiwan Relations Act, the United States continues to be the main provider of arms to Taiwan, which is often a source of tension with the People's Republic of China. (ILKHA)
