Istanbul blast suspect confesses links to YPG/PKK

Turkish authorities said 46 people had been arrested over the attack, including a woman suspected of having planted the bomb.

“Ahlam Albashir was a Syrian national and she had confessed to being trained by PKK/YPG members,” Istanbul Police said in a statement.

According to the statement, the suspect also confessed that the order for the attack on Istiklal Avenue was given in Kobane, a city in northern Syria.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said that authorities had a phone tap showing that the PKK had ordered the killing of Albashir after the attack and that authorities had arrested the person sent to kill her.

At least six people, two members of each of three families, were killed and more than eighty others were injured in the attack.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. (ILKHA)
