The bulletin, which will be posted every Monday and can be accessed at “www.iletisim.gov.tr,” presents accurate and true information to counter the misleading and fake news that has been spreading among the general public.

In the first bulletin for the week of October 1-8, the news titled “PVC windows installed in the 656-year-old mosque,” “Presidency of Religious Affairs earns 58 million 17 thousand liras in interest income in 2021,” “Turkish Coast Guard pushes immigrants into Greece by brute force,” and “600 million cubic meters missing in natural gas storages” have been selected as the “fake news of the week.”

The bulletin has debunked the story that “PVC windows were installed in the 656-year-old mosque” by noting, "The PVC windows that the community had previously installed without authorization in the said mosque were removed six years ago during restoration work. The mosque, which is undergoing restoration, has no PVC windows."

The bulletin, which states that the allegations in the news titled "Presidency of Religious Affairs earns 58 million 17 thousand liras in interest income in 2021" did not reflect the truth, informs that the accounting records of the institution's expenditure units were kept in accordance with the provisions of the regulation.

The bulletin states that the news titled "Turkish Coast Guard pushes immigrants to Greece by brute force" is false and that on September 5, 2019, the boat, which was performing maneuvers that would endanger the lives of immigrants, was stopped by Coast Guard teams, and the people in the boats were safely transported to the beach.

According to the bulletin, where the news "600 million cubic meters missing in natural gas storages" is also denied, BOTAŞ data states that the storage occupancy rate in both the Tuz Gölü and Silivri Underground Natural Gas Storage Facilities is 100 percent. (ILKHA)
