Afghanistan: At least 15 people killed as huge explosion hits mosque in Herat

The explosion occurred in the Guzargah Mosque in Herat during Friday noon prayers, according to local sources.

Sources at the scene reported that at least 15 people had been killed in the explosion.

“Mujib Rahman Ansari along with some of his guards and civilians have been killed on their way toward the mosque,” Herat’s police spokesperson Mahmood Rasoli said.

There were fears that the death toll could climb much higher.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. (ILKHA)
