The situation in the city is out of control after the deadly clashes broke out between forces loyal to rival Libyan prime ministers Fathi Bashagha and Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh over the capital city of Tripoli.

Arms fire and blasts rocked several districts of the capital as smoke could be seen rising from damaged buildings.

According to local sources, many civilians remain trapped in their homes in the most densely populated central suburbs of the city.

Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary General called for an immediate cessation of violence in Tripoli, urging warring parties to engage in a genuine dialogue to address the ongoing political impasse.

He also called on the parties to protect civilians and refrain from taking any actions that could escalate tensions and deepen divisions. (ILKHA)
