Magnitude 4.2 earthquake hits central Turkey

A 4.2 magnitude quake struck the Meram district of Turkey’s central Konya province on Friday, Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency announced on its website.

The earthquake occurred at around 09:07 TSI, with its epicenter at a latitude of 40.6831 degrees north and a longitude of 34.8611 degrees east, and at a depth of 6.99 km.

The earthquake was felt in the nearby provinces, including Tokat, Amasya, Sivas and Samsun, according to local sources said.

There are no immediate reports of serious damage or deaths. (ILKHA)
