Min Aung Hlaing, the chairman of the State Administration Council, requested the military government to allow him to serve for an additional 6 months, the Global New Light of Myanmar reported.
The members of the junta’s National Defense and Security Council unanimously supported the proposal, it said.
On 1 February 2021, following a military coup in Myanmar, Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces of Myanmar and its new State Leader, declared a state of emergency lasting one year. (ILKHA)
