At least 6 people die after passenger bus crashes in northwestern Turkey

At least six people have been killed and 25 others injured when a passenger bus rolled down an embankment on Tuesday morning.

According to local sources, the accident took place in the Lüleburgaz district of Turkey’s northwestern Kırklareli province.

Ambulances, police, and fire crews were dispatched to the scene after the accident had been reported to the officials.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital in Ankara, local sources reported.

The officers were investigating how the crash happened.

Traffic accidents claim thousands of lives every year in Turkey. According to figures by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), 4,866 people were killed in traffic accidents and another 226,266 people suffered injuries in the country last year.

One-third of the accidents stem from drivers exceeding speed limits. (ILKHA)
