Sheikh Said and his friends to be commemorated on the 97th anniversary of their martrydom

Mustadzaf Der (Solidarity with the Oppressed Community) will hold a massive gathering to commemorate Sheikh Said and his friends on the 97th anniversary of their martyrdom.

“All of our people are invited to attend the massive gathering which will be held to commemorate Sheikh Said and his friends on the anniversary of their martyrdom,” Mustadzaf Der said in a statement.

The program will start at 18:00 local time on Tuesday.

The Independence Tribunal in Diyarbakir imposed a death sentence on Sheikh Said and his forty-six friends on June 28, 1925 after the armies of the new Turkish Republic heavily repressed the rebellion they had initiated in February.

Penalties were carried out the next day, by Sheikh Said coming up first. (ILKHA)
