“I urge security authorities to follow up the issue and I'm of no doubt that seeking revenge on criminals for the blood of the great martyr is definite,” Raisi told journalists before departing Tehran's Mehrabad airport for a trip to Oman on Monday.

Raisi congratulated and condoled the martyrdom of Colonel Sayad Khodaei to his family and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, saying: “Pursuing this incident will prove that the hands of the Global Arrogance are definitely behind this crime.”

“Those who were defeated by the forces defending the shrines want to show their despair in this way. The serious pursuit of this issue by the security officials is emphasized by me, and I have no doubt that the revenge of the pure blood of this great martyr is inevitable,” he added.

On Sunday, colonel Hassan Sayyad Khodaei, a member of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, was assassinated in an armed attack by two motorcyclists in Tehran. (ILKHA)
