26,000 Russian soldiers killed since aggression began—Ukrainian Defense Ministry

Nearly 26,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in Ukraine since the aggression began, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Ukraine’s forces destroyed 1,170 Russian tanks, 199 aircraft, 158 helicopters, and 2,808 armored carriers, according to the statement.

The statement added that Ukrainian forces had destroyed 519 Russian artillery systems.

According to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), at least 3,381 Ukrainian civilians were killed in Russian attacks.

“From 4 a.m. on 24 February 2022, when the Russian Federation’s armed attack against Ukraine started, to 24:00 midnight on 8 May 2022 (local time), the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) recorded 7,061 civilian casualties in the country: 3,381 killed and 3,680 injured,” the agency said.

Since Russian aggression against Ukraine country began, over 5.9 million refugees have left the country, while an estimated 7.7 million people have been displaced within the country. (ILKHA)
