Moderate magnitude 4.8 earthquake strikes Mediterranean Sea off Cyprus
4.8 magnitude earthquake jolted Cyprus late Tuesday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The earthquake hit at 10:11 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10 km, the EMSC said.
“Aftershocks may occur in the next hours/days. Unless it is necessary, stay away from damaged areas for your safety. Be careful and follow national authorities' information,” the center warned.
The earthquake was also felt in Lebanon, Beirut mainly, occupied Palestine, and the Syrian coast.
There are no immediate reports of serious damage or deaths after the earthquake. (ILKHA)
