Turkey hosts some 3.7 million registered Syrian refugees

Turkey hosts about 3,7 million Syrian refugees who were forced to leave their homes due to civil war, according to the head of the country’s Directorate General of Migration.

Speaking at “The International Community's Role in Managing Refugee Flows: Syria and Beyond” session held as part of Doha Forum 2022, Savaş Ünlü said: “Turkey hosts 3.7 million Syrian refugees. In addition, there are 300 thousand refugees from different countries of the world in our country.”

Noting that Turkey continues to work for the safe return of Syrians to their country, Ünlü said: “This way, 500,000 Syrians were able to return to their country voluntarily. We create a favorable atmosphere in Syria and ensure that refugees return to their homes safely.” (ILKHA)
