Turkey: Producer price index of agricultural products rises by 52.00% in January

Producer Price Index of Agricultural Products (Agriculture-PPI) increased by 52.00% annually and 14.83% monthly, the Turkish Statistical Institute said.

Agriculture-PPI (2015=100) on the previous month increased by 14.83%, on December of the previous year increased by 14.83%, on same month of the previous year increased by 52.00% and on the twelve months moving averages basis increased by 26.55% in January 2022.

Compared to the previous month in sectors; fishing products and other fishing products increased by 8.19%, products of agriculture, hunting and related services increased by 14.96% and forestry products and related services increased by 16.20%. Regarding monthly changes by main groups; live animals and animal products increased by 13.42%, non-perennial crops increased by 15.34% and perennial crops increased by 16.64%.

Compared to general Agriculture-PPI, lower annual change observed in 7 subgroups while 4 subgroups were higher

Citrus fruit with 14.81% and rice (in husk) with 22.88% were the subgroups that indicated lowest annual increase. On the other hand, fibre plants with 147.56%, cereals (except rice), leguminous crops and oil seeds with 69.20% and vegetables and melons, roots and tubers with 64.34% were the subgroups where high annual increases realized.

Compared to general Agriculture-PPI, lower monthly change observed in 6 subgroups while 5 subgroups were higher

Cereals (except rice), leguminous crops and oil seeds with 1.68% and rice (in husk) with 3.74% were the subgroups that indicated lowest monthly increase. On the other hand, vegetables and melons, roots and tubers with 37.47% and fibre plants with 17.69% were the subgroups that indicated high monthly increase. Other tree and bush fruits and nuts with 0.52% and oleaginous fruits with 0.32% were the subgroups that monthly decrease observed.

In January 2022, within average prices of 86 items in the index; the average prices of 13 items decreased and the average prices of 5 items remained unchanged while the average prices of 68 items increased. (ILKHA)
