Turkey’s export unit value index increases by 6.6% in December

As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall export unit value index increased by 6.6% in December, the Turkish Statistical Institute said.

In the same month, compared to December 2020, the index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 3.5%, 15.9%, 57.7% and 4.8%, respectively.

The overall export unit value index increased by 9.4% in Quarter IV 2021, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. As compared with the year 2020, the index increased by 9.5% in 2021.

The overall export volume index increased by 17.1%

The overall export volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 17.1% in December.

Compared with December 2020, the index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 18.6%, 3.1%, 25.0% and 16.5%, respectively.

The overall export volume index increased by 15.1% in Quarter IV 2021, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. As compared with the year 2020, the index increased by 21.7% in 2021.

The overall import unit value index increased by 25.7%

As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall import unit value index increased by 25.7% in December. The index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 21.7%, 45.1%, 112.7% and 11.4%, respectively.

The overall import unit value index increased by 31.2% in Quarter IV 2021, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. As compared with the year 2020, the index increased by 25.4% in 2021.

The overall import volume index increased by 3.3%

In December, the overall import volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 3.3%. While the index for food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.2%, the index for crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 8.0%, 22.2% and 7.0%, respectively.

The overall import volume index decreased by 5.7% in Quarter IV 2021, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. As compared with the year 2020, the index decreased by 1.3% in 2021.

The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index increased by 5.2%

The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index which was 151.0 in November 2021, increased by 5.2%, to 158.9 in December 2021. The calendar adjusted export volume index which was 137.4 in December 2020, increased by 17.1%, to 160.8 in December 2021.

The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index increased by 0.8%

The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index which was 114.8 in November 2021, increased by 0.8%, to 115.8 in December 2021. The calendar adjusted import volume index which was 119.9 in December 2020, increased by 3.3%, to 123.9 in December 2021.

Terms of trade was 82.8 in December 2021

Terms of trade is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index, then multiplying the result by 100. While terms of trade was 97.6 in December 2020, it decreased by 14.8 points to 82.8 in December 2021.

Terms of trade decreased by 16.1 points to 81.1 in Quarter IV 2021, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. Terms of trade decreased by 12.5 points to 85.9 in 2021, compared to the preceding year. (ILKHA)
